Gyrojet, a family of unique firearms developed in the 1960s

No comments:

The Gyrojet is a family of unique firearms developed in the 1960s named for the method of gyroscopically stabilizing its projectiles. Firing small rockets rather than inert bullets, they had little recoil and didn't require a heavy barrel to resist the pressure of the combustion gases. Velocity on leaving the tube was very low, but increased to around 1,250 feet per second (380 m/s) at 30 feet (9.1 m). The result was a very lightweight weapon with excellent ballistics. These Gun's prices for even the most common model costing range above $1,000. They are, however, rarely fired; ammunition, when available at all, can cost over $100 per round. (via)Wikipedia

Nuclear bomb explosions compilation (video)

Nuclear bomb explosions compilation
This Video Developer Says, I've taken nuclear blasts from the smallest sub-kiloton to the monstrous "Tsar Bomba" and put them in a nice montage to music. They are grouped by size, sub-kiloton, including the famous "Davy Crocket" launch witnessed by Robert Kennedy, low kiloton weapons, including the remarkable footage of a Soviet underwater test. Then we have the mid kiloton range, where I have put footage of Crossroads Able, Redwing Seminole, and several other hard to find videos into. Then, high leval kiloton weapons, including some beautiful footage of the Soviet "Sloika" test, and remarkable footage of a British test taken from the plane that dropped the bomb. In the low megaton section I have both the Soviet and British first thermonuclear tests, now that's some rare footage! High megatons consist of the American Ivy and Castle series, with some beautiful shots of Castle Bravo and Romeo. Then, all by it's lonesome, the Tsar! 57 Megatons of pure fury! Music may be a bit loud for some, but it just seemed appropriate.

Florida school not happy about church's sex sermon
A church may face being kicked out of the school auditorium it uses for holding sermons, after it advertised a series of services entitled 'Great Sex for You.'

The New Hope Church, of Melbourne, Florida (it's always Florida) sent out 25,000 fliers to local households advertising the services in the school, promising that attendees could 'learn how to have the Great Sex that God created you to enjoy!'

Pakistani forces drive Taliban from key town
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (CNN) -- Pakistan's military intensified its drive against the Taliban in the country's restive tribal regions Wednesday, reclaiming a key town in the northwest district of Buner.

Air strikes by Pakistani fighter jets killed 70 to 75 militants in the neighboring Dir district a day earlier, military spokesman Gen. Athar Abbas told reporters.

The air attacks came after the army launched an offensive against suspected militants and their hideouts in Lower Dir at the weekend. The Dir and Buner regions border the violence-plagued Swat valley.
