A Floating Instrument Platform (FLIP)- Its is actually a ship which is a floating instrument platform and manned research vessel. its around 355 feet long and submerge one side of the ship under the ocean and another portion above the water surface to study the acoustics of whales and other marine mammals, the effects of seismic waves on the water, and heat exchange between the atmosphere and the ocean.
